Senator Marvin A. Blyden
Senator Marvin Allen Blyden was born on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands to James and Mayrose Blyden from the Savan community. The 11th of 13 children, Marvin grew up in Estate Nadir and is a proud product of the Virgin Islands public school system.
After completing Dickerson Business School in 1987, Marvin managed for a fortune 500 company, namely Pepsi-Cola. He returned home to the U.S. Virgin Islands in 1991 and worked as a Manager at the prestigious Frenchman's Reef Hotel. There he gained a wealth of knowledge during his tenure and was recognized for his talents. He later was recruited to manage the first Taco Bell restaurant in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Marvin always goes above and beyond expectations and has proven to be skilled in organizing resources for a greater chance of success. He was an exceptional public housing manager who was creative and effective, and believes in helping others. He is known to put others and their needs before his own.
As a Little League coach and Zero Tolerance basketball coach, Marvin managed and motivated many youngsters. He believes in giving back in ways he feels will positively impact our community, and so he has created annual events to include his annual Toys for Tots Toy Giveaway, an annual "V.I. Women United to Empower" prayer breakfast to which raises money for the "Marvin A. Blyden Scholarship," a Senior's Lunch and a Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway. Marvin also hosts a nightly bi-weekly radio show on WSTA so the people can communicate with him, and he with them.
A father of three grown children, a small business owner, and married to Jacqueline Modeste Blyden for twenty-five years, Marvin has seen success in most areas of his life. He is driven and optimistic, always willing to uplift those around him with assistance whenever possible. He believes there is a solution to every situation no matter how grim it may seem, thus his political slogan "Your Choice For Solutions!" Marvin has been re-elected to serve his second term in the 32nd Legislature of the Virgin Islands (2017-2018). Senator Blyden is now Chairman of the Housing, Public Works and Planning Committee, and Vice-chairman of the Economic Development Senate Committee.

Senator Marvin A. Blyden announced his 1st Annual V.I. Women United to Empower Scholarship Prayer Breakfast. Eight scholarships were awarded to selected high school students in the St. Thomas/St. John district who will attend a college or university in the fall of 2015.
