Senator Patrick Simeon Sprauve was born in St.
Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, on March 4, 1970, to Mrs.
Louise Simeon Cross and the late Alfredo Sprauve. Patrick’s early
childhood was characterized by strong family bonds and a commitment
to giving back to the community. Patrick was taught by his family
to value social justice, a strong belief in fiscal responsibility
and to stand up for what matters most.
He attended the Nisky
Elementary School, today known as Ulla F. Muller Elementary School
and continued on to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School where he
earned his High School Diploma in 1987.
His collegiate studies
lead him to Virginia, where he attended Hampton University. While at
Hampton, he was involved in the International Association
Organization and Business Club, received special training from the
Virginia State Police Department, while serving as Dorm Director and
obtained both a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 1991 and
a Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1994. After
graduating, Patrick’s tenure as a Freshman Professor of Freshman
Studies at Hampton University equipped him with the knowledge and
experience to deal with today’s youth.
Patrick Simeon Sprauve has a remarkable record of
leadership and experience that embodies his unwavering lifetime
commitment to service. Upon returning to St. Thomas, he was
employed at the Department of Finance as the Special Assistant to
the Commissioner of Finance from 1995-1997. Additionally, from
1997-1999, he worked with the Governor’s Home Roofing Program as a
Liaison to the Department of Finance. In 2000, Mr. Sprauve returned
to the Department of Finance in the capacity of Financial Analyst.
His most challenging and rewarding experience was in 2001-2003, when
he served as the Executive Director of the 24th
Legislature of the United States Virgin Islands, working to bring
people together to make a difference in our islands.
Senator Sprauve began his tenure in the VI Legislature on September
29, 2008 when he replaced former Senator Basil Ottley Jr., in the
27th Legislature.
In
the 28th
Legislature, Senator Sprauve will chair the Committee on Health,
Hospitals and Human Services. He will also serve as the Secretary
for Intergovernmental and Territorial Affairs.
