Senator Patrick Simeon Sprauve was born in St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands, on March 4, 1970, to Mrs. Louise Simeon Cross and the late Alfredo Sprauve.  Patrick’s early childhood was characterized by strong family bonds and a commitment to giving back to the community.  Patrick was taught by his family to value social justice, a strong belief in fiscal responsibility and to stand up for what matters most. 

 

He attended the Nisky Elementary School, today known as Ulla F. Muller Elementary School and continued on to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School where he earned his High School Diploma in 1987.

 

His collegiate studies lead him to Virginia, where he attended Hampton University. While at Hampton, he was involved in the International Association Organization and Business Club, received special training from the Virginia State Police Department, while serving as Dorm Director and obtained both a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 1991 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1994.  After graduating, Patrick’s tenure as a Freshman Professor of Freshman Studies at Hampton University equipped him with the knowledge and experience to deal with today’s youth.

 

Patrick Simeon Sprauve has a remarkable record of leadership and experience that embodies his unwavering lifetime commitment to service.  Upon returning to St. Thomas, he was employed at the Department of Finance as the Special Assistant to the Commissioner of Finance from 1995-1997.  Additionally, from 1997-1999, he worked with the Governor’s Home Roofing Program as a Liaison to the Department of Finance.  In 2000, Mr. Sprauve returned to the Department of Finance in the capacity of Financial Analyst.  His most challenging and rewarding experience was in 2001-2003, when he served as the Executive Director of the 24th Legislature of the United States Virgin Islands, working to bring people together to make a difference in our islands. 

 

Senator Sprauve began his tenure in the VI Legislature on September 29, 2008 when he replaced former Senator Basil Ottley Jr., in the 27th Legislature.

 

 In the 28th Legislature, Senator Sprauve will chair the Committee on Health, Hospitals and Human Services.  He will also serve as the Secretary for Intergovernmental and Territorial Affairs. 

 

 Senator Sprauve is married to Janice Bussue-Sprauve and has two sons, Taj and Emmanuel.
