Senator Neville A. James, serving his third term for the District of St. Croix,   continues to view St. Croix as the sleeping giant of the U.S. Virgin Islands. Neville’s personal growth as a Senator is a reflection of his lifetime of educational and professional achievements, along with his service to the St. Croix community.

Neville was born in New York, NY, on March 10, 1964, to Gloria Carlos and the late Randall N. “Doc” James. Having moved to St. Croix at the age of six months, Neville has lived on the biggest “Virgin” ever since. He attended and graduated from the St. Dunstan’s Episcopal School class of 1982. He later attended SUNY/Old Westbury and the University of Miami (Florida), having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the latter in 1987. Upon returning home in the spring of that year, he has worked for the Virgin Islands Department of Education and then Senate President Vargrave Richards.

Neville, a noted sports fanatic beyond compare, continues to advocate for and support legislation that would bring development and re-development of athletic and recreational facilities for St. Croix.

As a grassroots Democrat, Neville makes no apology for his political networking and his enduring love for what he perceives to be the most attractive island in the Caribbean. He credits his parents for promoting his independent-minded thinking, which he believes has served him best to this point.

 While giving the utmost thanks to the voters who supported him in his bid for a third term in public office, Neville’s future goals comprise of continued focus on controlled economic growth,  safer communities and a revitalized economy for the district of St. Croix.  In addition, he strives of being a proud and productive representative from his political district. As Neville clearly puts it, the people of St. Croix deserve real representation, “St. Croix has to speak for St. Croix…All the Time.”
