Senator Celestino A. White, Sr. is the son of the late Charles A. White, a retired police officer, and Majorie Stevens, a retired first-class cook.  He graduated from Charlotte Amalie High School in 1965.  Upon graduation, White enlisted in the United States Air Force and later was honorably discharged.  The Vietnam Veteran and Airman First Class returned to St. Thomas and entered the police force.  As an officer of the law, he has held every rank from patrolman to Chief of Police.

During the course of his career, he received numerous departmental and community medals, awards and certificates for outstanding service.  His departmental training included studies at the University of the Virgin Islands, University of North Florida, North Western University, Atlanta University and the U.S. Secret Service.  In addition to his police responsibilities, Senator White owned and operated a successful landscaping firm, which he gave up in order to devote full attention to his senate position.

Senator White likes to say that he possesses a “Masters Degree in Common Sense and PhD in Street Sense from the School of Hard Knocks.”  Another popular phrase coined by Senator White in describing his persona is, “I don’t just talk sense.  I apply sense!”

Senator White was first elected to serve in the 18^th Legislature and served in the 19^th, 20^th, 21^st,22^nd, 24^th, 25^th , 26^th and 27^th Legislatures.  Senator White served as Majority Leader during the 21^st, 24^th , 26^th and 27^th Legislatures.

Senator White is married to the former Ruthlyn V. Archibald and is the father of four children:  Colette, Celestino Jr., Clement and Calvert and Grandfather of six:  Ashur Amaro; Celestino Ajahni and Celeste White; Asia and Zion White; and Calaen White.
